Four Steps For Getting Your Child to Accept “No”

Struggling with your child accepting “no” for an answer?

Sometimes it may not be a behavior but a lack of understanding when your child acts out. Children with autism have a particularly difficult time with social skills. Try breaking the behavior down into easily understood steps and applying the steps in real world scenarios.

For example:

1) Look at the person.

2) Say, “Okay.”

3) Stay calm.

4) If you disagree, ask later.

You can practice these steps when your child asks for a toy or a food item you’re not willing to give them at that time.
